Park and Power assists green issues

Posted: 02 June, 2008

Park and Power is designed to meet the growing need for conveniently located recharge points for electric cars, motorbikes, bikes and older person / disabled buggies. The system has been designed so that all forms of electric transport can recharge as simply as possible. Lewis Day have one installed as a convenient charger for their electric vehicles.

People who want to use the system simply pay for either a 6 or 12 month licence which will allow them to recharge at any of the Park and Power points. They are then issued with a RFID fob which will allow them to activate any Park and Power point.

Users will display a sticker indicating that they have paid to use the system and these can be checked by existing traffic wardens.
Most types of plugs can use the recharge points. Any unusual or specific needs can be met. This is crucial, as we don't want to prejudice some makes of electric cars, motorbikes or pushbikes from using the system. We want to try and encourage more organisations to start producing electric vehicles.

Older person / disabled electric buggies can use the Park and Power system; most of these buggies have domestic type 3 pin plugs. With the ability for these users to recharge when out and about they need not fear running out of power which can often prevent or be a deterrent to longer journeys.

Park and Power promotes the balance for an increasing demand for travel against the goal of protecting the environment and improving the quality of life for everyone.
